Settling systems
The function of this equipment is to separate the solids from the water by decantation, for this it is necessary that the rate of rise is lower than the rate of fall of the solid particles still present in the water.
Normally the residual water is pretreated with chemicals before entering the decanters to facilitate the creation of solid flocs and favor their decantation.
There are several decantation systems, most of which are based on pouring the water into tanks with a conical lower surface to drive the decanted flocs to the vertex. The clarified water will overflow from the top through a “thompson type” weir.
